چکیده

The increasing diversity of Internet appliances calls for an architecture f o r performance differentiation on inforniatiori access. The World Wide Web is the dominant interface f o r inforniation access toduy. Web proxy caching is the key performance accelerator in the web infrastructure. While many research efforts addressed pegorniance differentiation in the network and on web servers, providing multiple levels of service in p r o v caches has received much less attention. This paper has two main contributions. First, we describe, implement, and evaluate an architecture for differentiated content caching services as a key element of the Internet infrastructure. Second, we describe a control-theoretical approach that lays well-understood theoretical foundations for resource nianagenient to achieve performance differentiation in proxy caches. We describe our experiences with iniplenientirig the differentiated caching services scheme in Squid, a popular proxy cache used by many ISPs today. Experimental study and analyses prove that differentiated caching services provide significantly betterperformance to the premium content classes.

A QoS Control Approach in Differentiated Web Caching Service

As the heterogeneity of Web clients increasing, the differentiated service becomes an important issue especially for e-commerce Web site. Web caching as a key accelerator on the Internet plays an important role in alleviating the client-perceived delay. To meet the Service Level Agreement (SLA) for clients without excessively over-provisioning resources, this paper proposes and evaluates a nove...

Di erentiated Caching Services ; A Control -

With the dramatic explosion of online information, the Internet is undergoing a transition from a data communication infrastructure to a global information utility. PDAs, wireless phones, web-enabled vehicles, modem PCs and high-end workstations can be viewed as appliances that \plug-in" to this utility for information. The increasing diversity of such appliances calls for an architecture for p...

Policy based Management of Content Distribution Networks

We present a policy-based architecture for the control and management of content distribution networks that form an overlay of caching proxies over an underlying physical network. The architecture extends the policy framework used for controlling network Quality of Service (QoS) and security to the case of content distribution networks. The fundamental advantage of a policy-based framework is t...

Improvement of performance in MPLS domains by using caching and aggregation of CR-LSP

Constraint-based routing (CR-LDP) extends the features of MPLS Label Distribution Protocol (LDP) working in conjunction with a wide variety of QoS scenarios and services including IP differentiated services, integrated services, traffic engineering, Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) service classes and frame relay. When a large number of CR-LSPs are required a lot of CR-LDP signalling is needed:...
